Course Description: To install or remove a supported scaffold in New York City, an individual must successfully complete this 32-hour training course.

Topics include but not limited to:

• NYCDOB Chapter 33 regulations & general requirements for supported scaffolds
• Buttresses, cantilevers and bridges
• Hazards associated with scaffolds
• Inspections and Fall Protection
• Tubular welded frame scaffolds
• Specific regulations and standards
• Components and parts inspection
• Erection/dismantling planning
• Guys, Ties and Braces
• Fall Protection, accident prevention and General Safety
• Access & platforms
• Erection / dismantling procedures
• Rolling scaffold assembly
• Putlogs hands-on demonstration and practice
• Tube & clamp scaffolds
• Specific regulations and standards

Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisites for the course. Students must speak the language in which the course is given.

Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to:

• Identify the types, Nomenclature and Definitions of a Scaffold
• Understand the different types of fall protection needed when working on a scaffold
• Understand the permit requirements needed in order to comply with Chapter 33 or the Building Code.
• Discuss and identity common supported scaffold hazards
• Classify the Federal and City Scaffold regulations
• Choose safe work practices at their construction sites based on prudent decision-making
• Develop a basic knowledge of how to safely install and remove supported scaffold equipment.
• Discuss differences between New York City Building Code and OSHA scaffolding regulations.

CEU’s: 3.2

Course Duration: 32 Hours of training (not including class breaks)

Course and attendance Policy: Students must earn a 70% or more in their final exam in order to successfully complete the course. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive 32-HOUR SUPPORTED SCAFFOLD ERECTOR / DISMANTLER Plastic ID card. Students are required to complete 100% of the course and actively participate in all learning activities.
