8-Hour Rigging Worker Refresher

PURPOSE:

This course is a requirement for an individual – who is not employed by a licensed rigger – to continue to perform rigging or signaling work in conjunction with the hoisting or lowering of articles on the outside of a building with hoisting equipment. In lieu of completing this course, an individual may instead possess a department approved national rigging certification.

DURATION: 8 Hours of instructional time, excluding breaks & meals

NYC REQUIREMENT:

To continue to perform rigging or signaling work in conjunction with the hoisting or lowering of articles on the outside of a building with hoisting equipment, an individual must either (i) complete this course four years following the completion of the 16-Hour Rigger Worker course & every four years thereafter, or (ii) possess a department approved national rigging certification, or (iii) be employed by a licensed rigger.

CURRICULUM REQUIREMENT:

Students are required to complete 100% of the course and actively participate in all learning activities including hands-on demonstrations and the multiple choice and hands-on final exams. Students must obtain a score of 70% or higher on each to receive a certificate of completion and ID card from Valor Consulting.

Students who do not pass the written or hands-on exam will have an opportunity to retake the entire course at a reduced price of 50% of the original course fee. Students must contact Valor Consulting to schedule and pay for the retake class within 6 months following the original class date. After 6 months, students will be required to pay the full course fee.

Make-up time is not permitted for this training course. Should students miss any portions of the training, it is the student’s responsibility to contact Valor Consulting to arrange to attend another scheduled event.
