Course Title: 8-Hour Hoisting Machine Operator Class B Rating

Course Required For: License Rating

Purpose: This course is a prerequisite requirement for obtaining a rating for a Class B Licensed Hoisting Machine Operator.

Duration:  8-Hours of instructional time, excluding breaks & meals.

NYC Requirement:  To apply for a rating, the Class B Licensed Hoisting Machine Operator must successfully complete a course of 8 hours in length as mandated by Section 28- 405.3.2.2 of the New York City Administrative Code and 1 RCNY 104-09(h) of the Rules of the City of New York.

Audience: This training is geared for individuals that are planning to obtain a rating Class B Licesnsed Hoisting Machine Operator.

Course Materials: This course consists of several different components which include power point presentations, lecture, real life case studies, class discussion and hands on demonstration. We will provide a student manuals, Hands-on demonstration, and in-class practical exercises.

Course objectives:

• Learn the controls of the crane, including differences in controls based on operation mode
• Learn the computer systems of the crane, including setup of the computer to match the configuration of the hoisting machine
• Learn operational aids and safety devices of the crane
• Learn wind and weather restrictions for the crane, including differences based on configuration, with emphasis on requirements when set up in configurations with a boom or boom/jib combination greater than 300 feet (91.44 m) in length
• Learn the procedures to boom up, jackknife, and laydown the boom or boom/jib combination of the hoisting machine, including differences based on configuration, with emphasis on requirements when set up in configurations with a boom or boom/jib combination greater than 300 feet (91.44 m) in length
• Learn NYC Buildings Unsafe Condition (311) Notification Procedure
• Learn how to report unsafe or dangerous hazards to NYC/DOI Buildings Integrity Training.
• Review all Training Topics
• Written (Multiple Choice) Assessment

Course Policy: Students must earn a 70% or more in their final exam and participate in all class activities in order to successfully complete the course. Upon successful class completion, students will receive a Certificate of Completion of this course.

Attendance Policy: Students are required to complete 100% of the course and actively participate in all learning activities. Make-up time is not permitted for this training course.
